The NZ Chapter of SFPE has decided to publish Technical Papers based on NZ conditions, initial publication will be in 45 South, but they will also be available individually as separate sheets for binding by readers. To which end we will produce an index from time to time and arrange the format of all papers to be consistent with each other.
We solicit contributions from the whole fire engineering community from any perspective, please submit your paper in the form set out below so that all papers will have a reasonably uniform layout and be suitable for compilation later.
If you have something to say on the subject of fire protection that is either non-technical or does not amount to a full paper we still need such material as standard contributions to 45 South (which are not peer reviewed per the regime below).
Format standard for Technical Papers:
Headers and footers (for co-ordination with other papers) will be added by SFPE editor and should not be used by the author.
3 hard copies are required for review and a disk copy (Word, Wordperfect etc.) for publishing.
Each paper is to be offered for publication by the NZ Chapter of SFPE free of copyright. Authors will be asked to sign a copyright release, (with proof copy) before publication.
Papers should be concise and limited to a single subject. For practical publication reasons each paper should be limited to 2 pages where possible.
A one paragraph abstract should head the paper.
The Author(s) should add their names, titles, etc. and commercial affiliation at the end of the paper in the form desired for publication. Also a business phone and fax number (not for publication) for editorial purposes.
Reference source and nomenclature should be included for all non-derived formulae and data tables. Reference indication by use of superscripts embedded in the text, reference listings to include title, lead author, publication name and date as a minimum. References should only be from a reputable, peer reviewed publication.
2 reviewers will be selected by the executive committee and encouraged to discuss any changes with the author before returning marked up copy to editor.
Editor will adjust paper to match reviewer marked up copy and fax proof copy to author together with copyright release for approval before publication.
