The international organisation has 51 Chapters and has a membership of about 4100 in over 40 countries. Many chapters have their own websites, with links available from the SFPE Headquarters site.
The International Fire Safety and Engineering Institute
SFPE has joined with other similar organisations to form an international umbrella organisation involving all the significant organisations with similar aims and objectives.
- Australian Society of Fire Safety:
Founded in 1994 soon after the demise of the Australasian Chapter of SFPE and is strongly linked to IEAust. - UK Institute of Fire Safety:
Founded in 1992 as a result of the amalgamation of the SFPE (UK Chapter) and the UK based Society of Fire Safety Engineers, and more recently has merged with the Engineering Council Division of IFE.

The source of the NFPA Codes, NFPA are by far the largest standards organisation offering standards in the fire protection sector.

The international association of fire researchers, whose main activity is to organise a symposium to discuss the 'state of the art' in fire safety engineering and science every few years.
