Background
The Rutherford Foundation is a charitable trust set up under the aegis of the Royal Society of New Zealand to promote early career support for outstanding science and technology students, researchers and teachers.
On December 10th, 2008 we will celebrate the centenary of Lord Ernest Rutherford winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Rutherford travelled from New Zealand to Cambridge to study for his PhD, attending Trinity College. His outstanding achievements have been recognised world-wide as among the most important discoveries of his era. We hope his achievements will inspire other New Zealanders to apply themselves to the pursuit of scientific excellence, and we are proud to offer these opportunities of support.
