UOC Earthquake Recovery Doctoral Scholarships
Scholarships are available starting in 2012 to support PhD research in pre-approved projects that are earthquake-related.

Earthquake Safe Buildings Doctoral Scholarship
The Earthquake Safe Buildings Doctoral Scholarship has been established in recognition of those people who lost their lives on 22 February 2011 as a result of collapsed buildings from the Christchurch earthquake.
Value (per year): Living allowance, $1000 grant and tuition fees, each to a value determined by the College of Engineering and Forestry.
Eligibility: An applicant must have met the academic requirements for enrolment in the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Canterbury on 10 December, or 15 June in the year of application.
Applications close on 5.00 pm on 15th November.

Departmental PhD Scholarships
Value (per year): $18,000 plus tuition fees at NZ domestic rate for thesis only students (ENCI790) and has a tenure of 3 years.
Eligibility:Departmental scholarships are for people:
- coming through the UG undergraduate programme
- who have received a first class honours degree

Rutherford Foundation PhD Scholarships
The Rutherford Foundation under the aegis of the Royal Society of New Zealand is offering 2 PhD scholarships at Cambridge University. The Rutherford Scholarships are jointly supported by the Rutherford Foundation and the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust.
Applications are now sought from outstanding New Zealand Scholars for the inaugural Rutherford Foundation PhD scholarships to begin in September 2011.

The PhD studentships offer ₤10,000 per annum for 3 years’ study in addition to all university and college fees. Scholars will also receive return airfares from New Zealand to Cambridge each year for the three years of their study. Background
The Rutherford Foundation is a charitable trust set up under the aegis of the Royal Society of New Zealand to promote early career support for outstanding science and technology students, researchers and teachers.
On December 10th, 2008 we will celebrate the centenary of Lord Ernest Rutherford winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Rutherford travelled from New Zealand to Cambridge to study for his PhD, attending Trinity College. His outstanding achievements have been recognised world-wide as among the most important discoveries of his era. We hope his achievements will inspire other New Zealanders to apply themselves to the pursuit of scientific excellence, and we are proud to offer these opportunities of support.
John R Templin Scholarship Trust : Category Engineering
The Tempolin Travelling Scholarship Trust is open to a graduate in engineering. The number of scholarships awarded annually is unspecified.
The scholarship covers tuition costs, reasonable travel costs, accommodation and related living expenses for the duration fo the study period. Tenure is usually one year but may be extended to a second.
Eligibility:
- Under 30
- New Zealand or British citizen
- The applicant must return to New Zealand upon expiry of the scholarship to engage in engineering or horticulture.
- Any application must include conditional acceptance from the applicant's preferred choice of University or Institution with a full budget in support of the amount applied for.
